The Vineyard Youth Tennis Foundation began in 1997 by providing free tennis lessons in the West Tisbury and Oak Bluffs Schools. VYT then purchased 12 acres of land at the “blinker light” and built 4 clay courts, a back board and a clubhouse. The four Har-tru courts were opened for play on July 22, 2002. Daily instruction began in the summer months of July and August, serving an average of 250 children weekly.
